Where to eat and walk in Ayamonte?


HThere are many places in Ayamonte where eating is a real pleasure. Away from packaged paella and a bag of frozen potatoes, the restaurants and bars of Ayamonte offer fresh and artisan cuisine where typical flavors of the Huelva Coast and the Portuguese Algarve are mixed.

In Punta del Moral, the soupy seafood rice, the clams or clams, the white shrimp from Huelva and the paprika stripe stand out. All of them are typical dishes of the area.
Restaurants like Miguel Ángel, La Pamela, El Minutero or Chiringuitos de Antonio are famous specialists.
To eat well on the beach of Punta del Moral, La Sonrisa Beach Club is a true paradise where you can eat typical dishes from the area, fresh fish and some not so typical dishes to everyone’s taste.

In this area of the beach we have almost 5 km of promenade where you can walk and play sports running, cycling, rollerblading, alone or with the family.

In the Barriada de Canela it is a very picturesque neighborhood in which there is a very special corner where you can eat excellent stews, fried or grilled fish, with excellent views of the river.rio.

In the center of Ayamonte there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars where you can try different tapas and dishes, among which the tuna with tomato, the tuna with onion or the famous fried cuttlefish stand out.
We can also find in the center of Ayamonte LPA TheCulinary, known for its most elaborate dishes and Delicatesse Merkajamon, which is a good place to buy and taste cured meats from the Sierra de Huelva, canned products from Ayamonte factories and an extensive menu of wines.

La Posada Convento Mercedario, is one of the hidden jewels of Ayamonte, that few people know about. Accessing through reception, we can take the elevator to the roof and taste a good cocktail with extraordinary views over the city of Ayamonte, the Guadiana River and the Portuguese Algarve.

Then we can take a good walk along “Ayamonte mira al rio” that goes from the corner of the dock to Calle de las Flores, passing through the entire fishing port. On this tour we will be able to see part of the life that the Ayamontinos make with the sea in places such as the dock with the pleasure boats, the departure of the ferry to Portugal, the International Bridge, the Fish Market and part of the old town of Ayamonte.

The Plaza de la Laguna or the Paseo de La Ribera are a meeting place for families and the enjoyment of the little ones.

Finally, we recommend a break at Vinos & Vinilos located in the Baluarte of the Iglesia de las Angustias, a charming place where you can enjoy many evenings of live music and a wide variety of excellent wines.
